RICHMOND WRITER TO APPEAR AT ARGS WRITERS FEST
Dennis Danvers to share knowledge, new novel: Bad Angels
RICHMOND, VA — Author Dennis Danvers will appear at the Appomattox Regional Governor’s School Writers Fest. He will join fellow guest writers, including Poet Laureate of Virginia Ron Smith, in offering workshops and wisdom to students and visitors.
Danvers, who teaches fiction writing and science fiction and fantasy literature at Virginia Commonwealth University, said many ARGS graduates have shown up in his workshop courses and always shine. He has been a strong supporter of ARGS for years and hopes to share his experience and enthusiasm for the craft of writing fiction at the upcoming event. “I’m looking forward to meeting their latest crop of talented young writers,” Danvers said.
Danvers also looks forward to sharing knowledge about the ins and outs of the professional writing world. His most recent novel, “Bad Angels,” a contemporary fantasy novel with a metaphysical twist, was released October 15, 2015 by Metaphysical Circus Press.
In this work, Danvers explores a fresh take on angels, as the fallen Shannon flees into the human world. He said he hopes readers open up the novel “to enjoy a modern urban fantasy that isn’t all doom and gloom, but nonetheless grapples with issues like free will and the power of love.” This is Danvers’ eighth published novel, but the first with the independent press MCP.
A representative from MCP will attend the event to share more information about “Bad Angels” and the hybrid publishing model the press employs. Open and free to the public, the ARGS Writers Fest will take place Saturday, December 12, at 512 W. Washington St., in Petersburg, VA.
